In order to maintain this balance, the body keeps an \u201cinternal clock\u201d that keeps us alert while the sun is up. This sense of time is called a circadian rhythm, and it is closely related to people\u2019s sleep cycles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Can Cell Phones Affect Sleep?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The body can figure out whether it\u2019s day or night by the presence of the sun, and more specifically, the presence of blue light. Other light sources, like fire, don\u2019t tend to include very much blue light. This means that light waves at this frequency are typically a good indicator to the body that sun is out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At least, that used to be the case. Much of modern technology\u2014cell phones, tablets, computer screens\u2014also tend to emit this blue light. This can disrupt the body\u2019s circadian rhythms, which will in turn harm your ability to sleep smoothly through the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This can be especially pronounced if you have other sleep disorders as well, like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bettersleepeugene.com\/what-is-sleep-apnea.html\">sleep apnea<\/a>. At the end of the day this may lead to chronic fatigue and a poor mood during the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How To Sleep Soundly<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are worried about the effect that cell phones are having on your ability to sleep soundly, it\u2019s a good idea to refrain from using them before bed.
